Today`s my life:  Moti ghimire    

We had discussed with sonoko san to start a new column ‘my today’s life’ written by the scholarship students. Today’s life of one student is ready. I had an incident on 21^st September, which I would like to share through this column.

21^st September 2009.I woke up and performed my daily routine as usual. I had my breakfast and went to exchange best wishes of dasain with the neighbours. Our family has also decided to go to butwal after 2 days. So I needed to finish some personal things as well as works of community.We decided to finish a work of checking  knitting goods of laligurans Club.After lunch, I went to baniyatar with my wife shanta to check the knitting goods and bring the finished ones. We went to Mrs. Manju’s home at 12:45 p.m. (Mrs. Manju teaches at Laligurans child care and also does the knitting work). Her door was locked, so I dialed her mobile number. She said, worriedly, that someone broke into her mother’s room, so she was at her mother’s place. Her mother’s room is 5 minutes away from hers. So we also went there. at the place, one person was hitting the another. Other people were looking at the scene. (photo no.1  ) I tried to know what had happened. Manju said that they had locked the door, kept the keys on top the door and went outside. When they returned, there was a unknown man in the room, the other one had already escaped. The cupboard was opened.He had escaped with golden chain, ring, top and an amount of Rs 10, 000.    Everyone started to beat the man who was there. I requested those people to stop beating him. They took the man out of the room. Some started saying, “we should kill him”. 3/4 people started to beat him again(Photo no 2). I called the police. Since the house was in the corner, it was hard to find out the house for the police. They took some time. I requested the people to stop beating him and handover him to the police. But they kept saying that the police does nothing, they take him and just leave him.               It was hard to stop them from beating. His nose was bleeding and he fell on the floor(Photo no 3). I was new at that place. No one recognized me and wouldn’t listen to me. So I had to come up with an idea. I told them to tie him(thief) on the pole until the police comes, everybody would see his face. I had to engage them in something until the police came, or else the man would have died. Even after tying him, they didn’t stop beating him(photo no 4). The time was 1:30. I called the police again. They had gone to the wrong direction. I didn’t know the full address of the place. So I went to look for the police van on my bike and brought them there. the place was very crowded. (Photo no. 5 ) the police took the thief. (photo no. 6  ). He was saved from being too injured. He could have died. There are some cases where such thieves are killed by the local people. He should be punished, but I don’t see beating him to death as the only option. there are other ways. The enraged people could have killed him.            After that we came to Manju’s place. Our mind was still stuck in that incident. Manju’s daughter was crying. She was saying, “mom, that thief took away the money and the jewellery”. (photo no. 7   ) I consoled Manju saying that they can find the another thief and may get the money back. I gave her best wishes for Dashain and we returned home.
 I got to see such incident on the spot.

First of all, my best regards to all the members of laligurans club. I especially want to thank Mrs sonoko san and Mr. Moti Ghimire. Each day of my life has been wonderful because of their support and inspiration.

                 On 20^th September 2009, I woke up at 6 a.m. and performed my daily routine. I prepared tea for everyone. I prepare meal when I am free and even this day, I did so. After that I cleaned my room. At 9, we all had meal and I washed the dishes. Then I took a rest for a while. From this day, I had duty in Bhaktapur Government hospital as OJT(Observation Job Training) practical of CMA(Community Medical Assiatance)course. This is a volunteer service for three month.After this practical course CMA course will complete.I had my duty in the evening from 2 to 6 p.m. I made the things that were required in the hospital such as Apron, B.P.Set& Thermometer. I left home at 1 p.m. and reached the hospital at 2. I introduced myself at the hospital. I was a little nervous as well as excited as it was my first day. My dreams became reality so I was feeling very happy this day. I was in the emergency ward, so I got to check vital signs. Temperature, pulse rate, respiration and blood pressure comes under vital signs. If these are not normal, the person might be suffering from a disease. We can diagnose a disease from this. There were many diarrhea patients and accident cases on this day. There were some injured patients so I did the dressing and gave T.T injection. Performing practical was different from what we learn. That is why I found it a little difficult. When we were free, I went to have lunch with my friends. After lunch, I started my work again. I was very proud this day because I got a chance to help the patients. At 6 p.m, other people who had night duty arrived, and I left. At home, I rested for a while and as usual, went to teach in WEP. I was tired this day, so I taught for only 45 minutes. I went home at 8:15pm and took a rest. A little later, I had my dinner and stated writing this diary as well as note of my practical work of hospital.

Few words to laligurans club

I am very thankful to all the members of laligurans club. Because of this club, students like me, with financial problems have got a chance to study. Our dreams are being fulfilles which would otherwise only be a dream. Its little help has made our future. I hope this club helps such children even in the future.
